Reno may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of fun things to do, but it actually has plenty of activities that will keep you entertained for days. Here are my top 10 recommendations for having a great time in Reno:

Pyramid Lake

  • Pyramid Lake is a freshwater lake in Washoe County, Nevada, United States. The largest natural freshwater lake in the state of Nevada, it has an area of approximately 22 square miles (57 km2). It is located on the Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation and fed by the Truckee River.
  • It was formed about 10,000 years ago when its basin was blocked by a lava flow from Mount Tenabo. Before then it had been connected to Walker Lake through ancient drainage channels that are now filled with debris.[1] The Washoe people named this body of water “Pyramid” because they thought that its shape looked like pyramids built by early inhabitants who lived nearby.[2]

Rock climbing on the wall at UNR

Rock climbing is a great way to get exercise, enjoy the outdoors and meet new people. The rock wall at UNR is an excellent place to climb if you’re new or experienced in this activity. There are several different routes that range from beginner to advanced, so there’s something for everyone!

If you have children who want to try rock climbing for the first time, this would be an ideal place because there are instructors on hand that will teach them how it works before sending them up into action with one of their own kids’ harnesses (those things they wear). This way parents don’t have worry about all those safety precautions being taken care of while they’re having fun themselves; instead they can focus on enjoying themselves while still feeling safe at all times.

Truckee River Whitewater Park

Truckee River Whitewater Park

Located in downtown Reno, this park is a great place to take your family or significant other on a date. There are several different rapids and drops that will challenge you to get out of your comfort zone and try something new. The park is open year round, so if you’re looking for something fun to do during the winter months, this is the place!

Zip line into Virginia City

  • Zip line into Virginia City

If you are looking for a fun way to get from Reno to Virginia City, then look no further than the zip line. The full trip is about a mile long and 300 feet high, so this is not just your average zip line experience!

It’s also located in Gold Hill which makes it 40 miles outside of Reno.

Reno Aces games

Reno Aces games are a great way to spend an evening. The Reno Aces are the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, and they play at Aces Ballpark. They are also the only professional sports team in Reno. If you love baseball, this is something you will not want to miss!

The National Automobile Museum

The National Automobile Museum is located in the heart of Reno, and it has a collection of over 200 cars and motorcycles. The museum is open daily and is free to visit–it’s a great place to take your family!

  • This museum houses one of the largest collections of antique automobiles in the world at over 200 vehicles.
  • You will also find motorcycles on display as well as other types of cars such as trucks, taxis, fire engines and even bicycles from yesteryear.

Reno Artown Festival

Reno Artown is a free, three-day festival that takes place in downtown Reno every year in July. It features music, dance and theater performances as well as art shows and exhibitions. The festival was started by the Reno City Council in 1982 with the goal of providing an annual gathering place for artists to meet with their community and showcase their work while having fun together at the same time.

Reno Artown has grown over the years into one of America’s largest free arts festivals with over 80 events taking place during its three days! It draws more than 100,000 visitors each year making it by far Nevada’s biggest event outside of Burning Man (another great thing to do when visiting Reno).

Skateboarding at the Concrete Wave Skatepark

Skateboarding is a fun activity for kids and adults. It’s a great way to exercise, meet new people and get out of the house!

Skateboarding can be done by anyone, regardless of age or ability level. The Concrete Wave Skatepark has ramps and rails that are perfect for beginners as well as advanced skaters who want more challenging obstacles.

Paddleboarding at Lake Tahoe

Paddleboarding is a popular activity at Lake Tahoe. The lake is located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, making it an ideal place to paddleboard.

Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America and second deepest lake in the United States. It’s also home to some of the best paddleboarding spots on Earth!

Here are some fun activities to enjoy when visiting Reno

  • Go to the top of Mount Rose.
  • Visit Reno’s National Automobile Museum.
  • See a show at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino, which is one of the largest in the world!
  • Head over to Virginia City for some history lessons and good old-fashioned fun.
